Overview

The Dendy George Street cinema has been in Brisbane for some time.  It’s part of long running boutique chain of cinemas which also feature in Sydney and Melbourne.  Their current city cinema has 2 screens.

Movie Quality & Range - 7 out of 10

The Dendy George Street offers a great range of art-house films that usually don’t screen at any other cinema.  Most are well reviewed and the Dendy selects them since bigger cinemas don’t show them (due to low demand).  There are quite a few foreign language films too.  The only problem is by having just 2 screens, weeks can go by without a new release.

Cinema Quality & Service - 6 out of 10

I have to say that the cinemas themselves are getting pretty old.  There’s no beverage holders, minimal leg room and a general run-down feel.  That said, the staff are probably the friendliest in Brisbane.  They have an intimate knowledge of the films on show and throw in many positive comments.

Parking is difficult but they’ve cracked a deal with the King George Square Cark Park for $5 parking all day on weekends and $5 for 3 hours during the week (after 1:30pm).  Not a bad price considering the rising costs of parking in town.
