Overview

The Portside Dendy is Brisbane's latest cinema.  It opened in 2006 and has a great location at the Portside Wharf at Hamilton.  It's a superb location and each of the 5 cinemas has a different look and design.

Movie Quality & Range - 9 out of 10

The Dendy Portside has a great range of movies.  They show a mix of high-profile and low-profile films.  They show similar films to those screened at the Palace Centro and Blue Room Cinebar but can squeeze in a few more session times by having more cinemas.  Most of the films that screen here come with great reviews.

Cinema Quality & Service - 8 out of 10

The cinemas look great.  Everything about them is new and they're just the right size.  The only thing I don't like about the actual cinemas are the seats - there's plenty of space and leg room but the arm rests are all different sizes.  What's up with that?  As mentioned in my review of the Dendy George Street Cinemas, the staff are the friendliest in Brisbane.  They make the movie-going experience just a little more memorable.  Free parking is available also in an undercover car park.

The location of the cinema is terrific.  Being at the Portside Wharf, there's a host of restaurants you can try whether it be for coffee or a full meal.  I'm a particular fan of Byblos.  It's right on the waterfront too so there's plenty of great views and it gives the place a nice atmosphere (particularly at night).  There's a special movie meal deal with some of the restaurants which is $25 on Sunday through to Thursday night.  I haven't tried it yet but I will soon!
