The Deb (out Apr 9) uses a familiar template in Australian cinema - a person from the big city heads to the country and, despite early negativity, realises outback life isn't too bad. Structured as a musical centred on two teenagers, it's corny and has some useless subplots (the footy?) but the decent performances give it a nice boost. Grade: B-.
